Salt Lake Temple (Autumn at Temple Square)

The original 26" x 42" Autumn at Temple Square was created using pen and ink with dry pastel, and is one of a series by the artist Chad S. Hawkins. In 1989 at the age of seventeen, Chad started this unique temple series, becoming the original LDS artist to involve hidden spiritual images in his artwork. This drawing, however, does not have the usual hidden image but includes all of the buildings on Temple Square as seen from a unique aerial perspective looking northward.

"Drawing and painting the temples because of their eternal importance and architectural beauty,” comments the artist, “has been a great blessing to me. As a result of my temple ser-ies it has been my pleasure to be a part of several speaking engagements on the subject of temples. My drawing of Autumn at Temple Square is of special significance to me because it depicts the entire Temple Square during my favorite season of the year. The colorful trees against the monochromatic temple grounds emphasize the beauty of the season."
